This week is going to be a rough week and there is no getting around it. Friday will be the 3 month anniversary. In case that was not enough for us, Sunday will be her 41st birthday. Yippee! But wait, there is more! Karin had signed up for the Nike Marathon which takes place on Sunday in SF. I was just brainstorming with Jeff as to some things that he could do with the kids to help the day pass. I wish we could just erase the day off the calendar. It is what it is. Please keep the family in prayer over the weekend. Jeff said he wants to get the point where he can laugh again about her. Think that may be a ways off. So, in light of Karin's birthday, I declare Sunday to be a PINK day! I just told Jeff we need to start new traditions, so PINK is my contribution to new traditions.

I saw Jeff last Saturday at soccer - Noah was playing on the field next to my daughter Jordan. Jeff, I think you look great and are doing a tremendous job taking care of those little ones! I declare Sunday "Walk for Karin Day". What do you say everyone take your kids out for a simple one mile walk and be together! I think Karin would love it if she brought families together to do something like take a walk. The Ericksons will be walking! Love to you Jeff - always - and warm wishes for you to remember a special birthday moment you shared with Karin and hopefully that lovely memory will bring a smile - or perhaps a laugh or two! God Bless. Heidi

Great idea. We will walk, and remember, and be grateful for all that she gave to us.

Jeff, you know that you and the kids continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Karin was a GREAT people person, especially when it came to her family. And her family is BIG. Every time I spoke with her, she never failed to mention them all.... Jeff, Noah, Salina, Jonathan, Jen, Paul, Katie, Johanna, Terry and Tom, George and Cathy, Chuck and Enola, and Jeff's siblings and families. She loved all of you so much!!! She also loved talking about her upcoming events. And Karin would talk about Jeff being her support system for them just as much as she talked about the events.

I agree Jen. You know your sister well! This Sunday, I am celebrating Karin's wonderful spirit with some of the things she loved... running the Nike Marathon, followed by a venti Starbucks, then a marathon recovery of lemon drops and laughter.

Karin Carter truly embodies the spirit of the Nike Women's Marathon and I love that it is on her birthday. She had previously ran this half marathon with her friends, who she loved dearly, and she very much wanted her sisters to run it with her last year for her birthday. This year, her sister Katie will be running her spot for her. Katie, I can't think of anything that would make Karin more proud than for you to do this run for her! You are giving your sister an incredible birthday gift! When Salina becomes a young woman, I expect you and Jen to take her to San Francisco for a fabulous girls weekend and run the Nike Womens Marathon with her.

Love & Hugs, Aunt Mary

we cant be sad forever, karin would NEVER want that. im happy that i had her so close in my life and that she was such a strong, positive role model for both me and her amazing kiddies! im celebrating her life all weekend by running her spot in the nike marathon, multiple starbucks trips, probably some ice cream and other junk food, and maybe even a few lemon drops just for her! she would want us to be happy and celebrate rather than to be sad, so everyone celebrate her fantastic life this entire weekend!
